Developer Hexworks and publisher CI Games have launched the Season of Revelry in its RPG Soulslike, Lords of the Fallen. This festive update includes new quests, weapons, armor, spells, snowball fights, and more, and it's available right now. Plus, it's only part one of this free two-part update, with Trial of the Three Spirits launching next week on December 21.
As for what to expect in this Season of Revelry part one update, which Hexworks is calling Offerings of Orius, it includes quite a lot:
* Six new spells: These spells include Immolation, Radiant Shield Throw, and Holy Arrow Shot.
* Three new projectiles: Players can now throw Blood Vomit, Explosive Mines, and Frost Worms at foes from a distance.
* New boss weapon abilities: Players can now unlock powerful abilities for all boss weapons obtained after defeating bosses.
* Seasonal decorations: Hexworks says the Vestiges of Mournstead (the bonfires of this game, essentially) have been adorned with festive decorations for the Season of Revelry.
On December 21, the Trial of the Three Spirits update will go live. It includes three new questlines, three new armor sets, and three new weapons, each representing one of three gods: Orius' Radiance, Adyr's Rhogars, and the mysterious Umbral. Plus, players will be able to change their character's name, body shape and gender, skin tone, hair color, and other physical attributes, but only after completing a new quest to find the shards of the Mirror of Distortion.
Elsewhere in the Trial of the three Spirits, players will be able to use new Grievous Attacks. Hexworks says every family of weapon has two unique finishers – one for single-handed wielding and one for dual wielding. Another community-sought request coming in this update is a storage box that allows players to deposit up to 2000 items in the Skyrest Bridge Coffer.
Finally, players will be able to rebind gamepad buttons starting with the Trial of the Three Spirits update, and they can launch snowballs at enemies and invaders using the new Snowball throwable.
After this update, Hexworks says content will continue to hit Lords of the Fallen in 2024 with the rollout "of the remaining new features and enhancements laid out in the content plan announced last month." This includes refinements to PvP and PvE, the release of a New Game Plus modifier system, and more.
Lords of the Fallen hit PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 13, 2023, and part one of the Season of Revelry – Offerings of Orius – is live in-game right now.
